Publish articles as native Gutenberg posts with the ProgSEO Publisher plugin.

The ProgSEO Publisher plugin receives articles from ProgSEO and creates native WordPress posts — with Gutenberg blocks, a featured image and SEO metadata. It works on WordPress 5.6+ and needs no other plugins.

Install the plugin

  1. 1

    Download the plugin

In the dashboard open Integrate → WordPress and press Download plugin. You get progseo-publisher.zip.

  2. 2

    Upload it to WordPress

In your WordPress admin go to Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, choose the zip, then Install Now and Activate.

  3. 3

    Configure the plugin

    Open Settings → ProgSEO Publisher:

    • Paste a long random string into Webhook secret.
    • Choose the default post status. Draft is the safest start — you review posts before they go live.
    • Optionally choose a default author and category.
    • Copy the Webhook URL shown at the top of the page, then save.
  4. 4

    Connect ProgSEO

Back in ProgSEO open Integrate → Webhooks, paste the webhook URL and the same secret, and press Save.

  5. 5

    Publish a test article

Publish an article from its page in the dashboard. It appears under Posts in WordPress within a few seconds — as a draft, or live if the plugin is set to publish.

Heads up

The secret in ProgSEO and in the plugin settings must match exactly. If articles don't arrive, check this first.

What gets created in WordPress

  • Native Gutenberg blocks for paragraphs, headings, lists, images, tables, quotes, code and separators.
  • Styled HTML blocks for hero banners, CTAs, FAQ accordions, feature grids, stats, YouTube embeds and author cards. Styles are scoped to .progseo-* classes and inherit your theme.
  • The cover image is uploaded to your Media Library and set as the featured image.
  • The meta description is passed to Yoast, Rank Math or SEOPress when one of them is active.
  • If a post with the same slug already exists, it is updated instead of duplicated. Updated articles in ProgSEO update the matching WordPress post.

IndexNow

Plugin version 0.2.0 and later serves your IndexNow key automatically, so search engines can be notified about new posts with no extra setup. See IndexNow.

Troubleshooting

Articles don't appear in WordPress

  • Check that the secret is identical in both places, with no extra spaces.
  • Open Integrate → Webhooks and look at the delivery log — it shows the response WordPress returned and lets you retry a delivery.
  • Make sure the REST API is reachable: https://your-site.com/wp-json/ should open in a browser. Security plugins and some firewalls block it.

Posts arrive as drafts

That is the default post status. Change it in Settings → ProgSEO Publisher if you want posts to go live immediately.
