IndexNow

Notify Bing, Yandex and other engines the moment an article goes live.

IndexNow lets ProgSEO tell search engines the moment an article is published or updated, instead of waiting for the next crawl. One submission is shared with every engine that supports the protocol: Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam and Yep.

Note

IndexNow is optional. Your articles publish normally without it. Google does not use IndexNow — for Google, rely on your sitemap and Search Console.

Enable IndexNow

IndexNow needs proof that you own the domain: a key file on your site. Open Integrate → IndexNow and choose whichever option fits your site.

WordPress plugin

Nothing to do. ProgSEO Publisher 0.2.0+ serves the key file automatically. If you installed an older version, download and install the latest plugin.

Site behind Cloudflare

In Cloudflare turn on Caching → Configuration → Crawler Hints. Cloudflare then notifies IndexNow engines whenever your pages change — no key needed.

Any other site

  1. 1

    Copy your key

In Integrate → IndexNow copy the API key. Each website has its own key.

  2. 2

    Upload the key file

Create a file named {your-key}.txt containing only the key, and place it at the root of your site so it opens at https://your-site.com/{your-key}.txt.

  3. 3

    Verify

Press Verify. Once the key file is found, IndexNow shows as connected. This is needed once per site.

What gets submitted

Under Automatic submission choose when to notify search engines — when an article is published, and when it is republished with changes. Only meaningful changes are sent; saving a draft never is. Recent submissions lists every notification with the engine's response.
